From small to smallest

There are 3 main types of hearing aids:
BTE, RIC, and ITE

BTE

BTE
Behind the ear

Behind-the-ear hearing aids (BTE) are a great solution for wearers with mild to severe types of hearing loss or with smaller ear canals.

They are lightweight and easy to handle and are prized for their powerful amplification, comfort, and durability. The speaker is in the case behind the ear and sound travels down the almost invisible tube into the ear canal. You can easily adjust volume and select between specialized hearing programs on most BTE's.

Receiver in canal

Receiver-in-canal hearing aids (RIC) are suitable for all types of hearing loss and are great if you want a smaller and more discreet device. They provide outstanding sound, are inconspicuous, and are fully automatic. The receiver (or the loudspeaker) is placed in the ear-tip instead of the housing, so sound is sent directly from the housing behind your ear through a thin wire to the receiver which sits inside the ear canal.

In the ear

In-the-ear hearing aids (ITE) are suitable for most types of hearing loss. They are made to the exact dimensions of your ear and come in a variety of small sizes. The smallest are virtually invisible and are a perfect choice if you want a very discreet solution. The shell of the hearing aid is custom-made to fit the shape of your ear and contains all vital electronics. Because of their small size, some features such as telecoil and wireless capabilities may or may not fit into the hearing aid.
